3 Go-To, Sanity-Saving Recipes I Use All The Time

Saving time and saving money seem to be at the top of everyone’s priority list but it ain’t easy, folks! If you’re doing sports/arts/church/whatever activities seven days a week, you frequently don’t have time to DIY so you can save money. If you’re living on a tight budget, you often don’t have money to buy time in the form of convenience products or hiring help.

I tend to find the kitchen to be a great place to save time or money or, on those wonderful days, BOTH. A recipe that is inexpensive and quick to make is such a sanity-saver! Here are three of my favorites.

Bean-Zing

My family loves beans & rice…really! We have it frequently and nobody minds that it’s low cost, meatless, or really easy for me to make. I use my homemade Bean-Zing seasoning plus canned or frozen beans and serve it over rice I make in my rice cooker (I use this one). Click here for the recipe.

1-Hour Yeast Rolls

This recipe from Money Saving Mom is listed as 30 minute rolls, but in my experience it takes about an hour to get from pulling the mixing bowl out of the cupboard to pulling the last rolls out of the oven. Even so, four dozen yeast rolls in an hour is a beautiful thing! Make healthy flour and oil choices for the best nutritional bang for your buck. Click here for the recipe.

Mater-Ade (Homemade Sports Drink)

Ever since I tweaked this recipe from Heavenly Homemakers, this drink has saved me both time and cash. I can whip up a double batch quicker than I can run to the store. The fact that I can pronounce all of the ingredients makes it even better! Click here for my recipe.
