Happy Independence Day!

Many thoughts fill my mind today and some of them are troubling, but I’m choosing to pray and be grateful. I’m spending the day with family and am currently seated with my mother on a second-level porch with ceiling fans circling overhead and a lovely breeze blowing. We’ll enjoy a cookout supper tonight and there will be an abundance of food and laughter.

There are most certainly problems in my country and around the world, but I’m sitting in the shade in relative peace and safety. For this I am thankful. My family is safe and well and we get to be together today. For this I am thankful. Despite its problems, I am still happy and thankful to be a citizen of the USA. For her I pray.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

  1. Leigh, we enjoyed a few days unplugged with my granddaughter here, but my thoughts were with all of my U.S. friends for this important day of Celebration. These are nervous days in which we live, and the threats seem many at times. But overall, peace prevails, at least in our parts of the world, and as you say, this is something for which we should be truly grateful. I’m glad you had time with family. Much love, Mimi xxx
