Remember how we were chatting about 5 Suggestions for Keeping Christmas Shopping Within Budget? One suggestion I mentioned was to make gift certificates for your family or friends offering a special outing or service to be fulfilled at a later time. You could always write a thoughtful note in a cute card, but if you want to create a book of several gift certificates then it’s helpful to have a standard form to work from.
So I am happy to offer four different free printable gift certificates with standard, star, tree, or birthday cake borders. You could give one certificate for a big, extra-special gift. You could give a set of three certificates in a specific theme. Or you could print several different borders and offer a “Gift Certificate of the Month” to your lucky recipient.
And by the way, homemade gift certificates would be great for kids to give to parents or grandparents!
Need some ideas for things to offer on your gift certificates?
- A trip to the park
- Extra dessert
- Extra bedtime story
- Get Out of Chores Free
- Stay up an extra thirty minutes
- Movie (or video from the library) night with kid’s choice of movie
- One-on-one time with Mom or Dad, kid’s choice of activity
- One day (or whatever time period) of help with yard work
- Free house cleaning
- Free window washing
- Wash the car (would be a nice once-a-month gift)
- Prepare the dinner of the recipient’s choice
- Take the recipient’s turn driving car pool
- Do the dishes for a week (or whatever chore for whatever time period)
- Help organize photos
- Trip to the theater/symphony/sporting event (Especially meaningful with it’s something the recipient loves but the giver hates)
Most of those gifts would be free or pretty inexpensive to pull off, but the ideas are really just to get your creative juices flowing. Custom gift certificates are best when you select a service or outing that is meaningful to the recipient; something that shows you know him/her well and care about meeting his/her desires or needs.
So here are the certificates! There are three on each sheet. Click on the certificate to download the image as a photo file, then print the certificates full size on 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper. Be sure to turn OFF the “fit to frame” option before you print. You could cut the certificates apart or just fold the page. Cut apart or folded, the certificates will fit in a U.S. business-sized envelope.
